How to Bid

Auction closing

Our 250th Anniversary Historical Signatures Celebration begins its soft close on Thursday, September 24th, 2026 at 11:00 AM Eastern — 8:00 AM Pacific.

Lots close one after another. If a bid is placed near a lot’s scheduled close, bidding on that lot is automatically extended until no further bids are received, which keeps the contest fair for everyone. Each lot closes on its own schedule, so active bidding on one lot will not hold up the others.

Maximum bidding

If you cannot be online during closing, enter a maximum bid before that lot closes. The system will then bid on your behalf, using the smallest increment needed to keep you in the lead, up to the limit you set. Your maximum is never revealed to other bidders.

Bid early for the best experience

To avoid missing a lot, place your bid early — ideally as soon as the lot opens — or set a maximum in advance. You can still bid while the auction is closing, but waiting until the final moments risks internet or computer delays that we cannot control.

After the auction

Winning bidders receive an invoice with payment instructions. Please review the terms and conditions, the buyer’s premium and payment methods, and the shipping information before bidding.
